Article about Cottage Food in New Mexico

The Institute of Justice interviewed me and then wrote an OpEd in the Taos Newspaper. Here it is. The journey continues. If you live in NM call your reps and ask them to vote for HB177! Ask your friends to do the same. Together we can change this for the better. Our local rep, Rebecca Dow, is actively involved in trying to get this passed when it comes up for a vote. If you would like to e-mail your story and support to her or your own reps, that would be helpful. Anything we can do to help get it passed, is helpful.

If the Cottage Food regs would have been loosened in MN when I was in undergraduate school, I wouldn't have taken out so many student loans. My loan debt became burdensome and still is. If this law passes, I won't have to take out any more loans for graduate school.

Support Cottage Food businesses and support small businesses. Know where your food comes from and meet the people who grew, cooked, canned or baked it. I'm just picturing all the wonderful homemade goodies that will be available this summer around NM farmer's markets if this passes. Just yummy!
